Graphical windows interface is very user-friendly for even the
youngest patrons. Computer skills are not required for its use.
Users can preset computer to control use of printer (on or off) to
save paper (or if a printer is not available).
Auto Librarian™ Remote Card Catalog allows the librarian to
utilize the main computer for circulation uninterrupted by patron
requests for book information.
Quick Searching of Book Database
Grid and Form View
Current Book Database is “live” from main Auto Librarian™
Library Server SE computer. The Book database is displayed in
grid format on the screen with Navigator buttons for easy database
maneuvering. Form View button displays the form view of the
highlighted book record. Form View records contain all of the
information about a book including: Booknum, Title, Author, Callnum,
Publisher, 4 Subject Headings, ISBN, LCCN, Copyright, Pages,
Illustrator and Unlimited Summary fields. In addition
the user-defined field, web links and an Amazon.com button for
Internet link to book reviews and more information about the book
and author are viewable on the Remote Card Catalog. Book status: Checked In,
Checked Out (with Due Date) or Missing is also displayed.
Book database can be searched in two ways:
1) Enter Search Information: Key in search
information on screen after choosing sort criteria: by Booknum,
Title, Author, Call number, or Subject. Books are listed in grid
format. Use navigator buttons (prior record and next record) to
refine search. Entire book record can be viewed by highlighting book
record and clicking on Form View button.
2) Key Word searches: key word searches can be made
on the following fields: A) Title, B) Title and Author, or C) All
fields: Title, Author, Subject, Publisher and Summary fields. An, A,
The, articles are ignored in key word searches. Searches can be
narrowed or widened using AND, OR, NOT search criteria. Results of
search are listed in grid format and entire book record can be
viewed by highlighting book record and clicking on Form View button.
See book fields listed above. Results of key word searches can be
viewed on screen and/or printed. Key word search report includes
Title, Callnum, Author and Booknum.
Borrower Record View/Reserve
Capability
Borrowers can review their borrower records by clicking on a User
Record Review button. A valid borronum and phone number are needed
to access record. Fines, Borrower History, Check Outs and Reserves
can be reviewed.
Books found to be checked out upon searching the book database
can be reserved by the borrower with a valid borronum and phone
number.
Note: Borrower Record View and Borrower Reserve Capability can be
disabled by the librarian.

conjunction with Auto Librarian™ Library Server SE.
