TROUBLESHOOTING AUTO LIBRARIAN™ SE NETWORKS

The following steps must all be taken to have the Auto Librarian™ network perform properly. The  diagram below depicts a sample Auto Librarian™ SE network configuration.  For further help see the Video Tutorial in the Support section.

1)Check network protocols include all 3 (XP/2003 users need only have the network protocol which loads at installation - TCP/IP):

IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, NETBEUI            TCP/IP       NETBEUI

2)Check all network cables and cards - be able to find all computers in the network from each other.

3)Check sharing property with full access to the Auto Librarian folder on all computers. (Click My Computer, Right Click C drive, Properties, Sharing). To get the Security Tab in Folder Properties XP users must open Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing. On the Security Tab allow all permissions for the Auto Librarian folder.

XP/2003 users set full sharing/read/write permissions for pdoxusrs.net file after install.

4)Check Paths in SERVER and REMOTE network configurations (Click Start, Programs, Auto Librarian 4 or Auto Librarian 4 Remote, Network Configuration) under ALIAS: AUTO95 - path should read as follows on BOTH server and remote computers:

\\servercomputername\C\auto librarian\tables

If Windows NT or 2000 is being used leave out the drive letter C\. Save any changes before exiting.

5)Start up server each day then remotes. Close down remotes first, then server.
